About

ARNNL Education and Research Trust is a registered charitable foundation, established in 1986, to promote, support and assist basic nursing education, continuing nursing education and nursing research.  A volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the members of the Trust, is responsible for the direction and administration of the Trust.

At the ARNNL Annual Meeting in 2006, members voted to accept a motion that all members of ARNNL with a practicing license would become members of the Trust and that their $10 Trust membership fee would be collected at the time of licensure renewal. This provided secure funding for the Trust and enabled us to continue the important work of supporting nursing education in Newfoundland and Labrador.

In 1986 the Trust distributed $5000 in scholarships. Thanks to the $10 membership fee collected at licensure, the scholarships, bursaries and research awards distributed by the Trust in 2008 totalled more than $70,000.

Objectives of the Trust

The goal of the Trust is to:
  • provide scholarships to individuals enrolled in basic nursing programs,
  • provide scholarships and bursaries to nurses enrolled in continuing education programs, and
  • to provide awards to nurses conducting nursing research.
