¤ NL Graduates
At the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARNNL), we are committed to ensuring the process of obtaining an Interim License for Newfoundland and Labrador nursing graduates is efficient and can be completed with relative ease.
All nurses who wish to practice nursing in Newfoundland and Labrador must obtain an interim license or a license to practice from the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland & Labrador (ARNNL) before commencing employment, which includes orientation.
Interim licenses are issued in accordance with the ARNNL By-laws and a practicing license must be renewed by March 31 of each year. Interim licenses can be issued to Newfoundland and Labrador graduates eligible to write the (CRNE); or who wrote the CRNE and are awaiting results.
Obtaining an Interim License
To obtain an interim license to practice nursing in Newfoundland and Labrador, you must submit an Application for Interim License (see the Application Package link in the right side menu) along with the following documents:
- Completed application to write the CRNE including the following attachments:
- Proof of legal name change*
- Passport sized photo*
The examination application must be completed and submitted by the applicant prior to applying for an Interim License. See Nurse Registration Examinations for more information.
*Applicants who have already submitted an application to ARNNL to write the CRNE are not required to resubmit a passport sized photo or proof of legal name change.
- Confirmation from the applicant's school of nursing that program requirements have been met (received directly by ARNNL from your nursing program).
- Interim license fee.
