National Nursing Week Message from               ARNNL's President

National Nursing Week (NNW) will be recognized from May 6-12. This year’s theme, Nursing: A Leading Force for Change, celebrates the role of nurses at the forefront of effecting change in the quality of health care.

Registered nurses and nurse practitioners continuously strive to be a force for change. We are inquisitive and think outside the box, and are persistent in our endeavours to find the best solutions and the most effective approaches – all the while examining our profession and the integral role each of us plays in it.

Registered nurses and nurse practitioners are catalysts for finding and leading solutions to improve access to health services, bring increased attention to health promotion and illness prevention, and are valuable advocates for the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

NNW provides an opportunity to reflect on, recognize, and reward the contributions of nurses. You are, without a doubt, vital and valuable to the functioning of the health care system. Celebrate with colleagues, family, and friends! We must be vigilant in raising public awareness and educating government, employers, other health care professionals, and the public about the value of our profession and roles.

As President of the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador, I am proud to acknowledge your many contributions and achievements in the delivery of highly-skilled, safe, ethical and quality nursing care in a variety of settings. This serves as a tribute to your dedication, diligence, and professional commitment. Happy National Nursing Week!

Sincerely,
Cathy Stratton, RN, MN
